Try Me Tuesday - Publix Tissue on I Heart Publix 2

Welcome to this week’s Try Me Tuesday. As a reminder…each week I will grab a new set of products and test them out. I’ll put the Publix brand up against a national brand product and report back.

I know many times I struggle with what brand to choose. Often a sale or a coupon/sale combination make that an easier decision…but what about those times when you need an item and there is not a sale? Do you grab the house brand or pay more and get the national brand? More importantly, is there really a difference?

This week we tried Publix Tissue.

Publix Tissue, 85 ct, $1.09

Kleenex Tissue, 70 ct, $1.99

Scotties Tissue, 64 ct, $1.50

Puffs Tissue, 64 ct, $1.59

RESULTS

  • Publix –  1
  • Kleenex – 2
  • Scotties – 0
  • Puffs – 1

I thought it would be fun to try something besides food—so we tested tissues. I actually only had to purchase the Publix version as I already had the others in my stockpile.

I use tissues every single day but honestly just use whatever I have on hand. Typically whatever tissues that I have purchased on sale at some point. I had never put them side by side to actually see which ones I like best.  I really didn’t think there would be a huge difference in the various tissues…but there were definitely some differences.

As you can see by the results, everyone liked something different when tested side by side. There were differences in thickness, softness AND in price.

Ultimately I am not sure how noticeable the differences would be if you didn’t try them side by side. BUT…the price difference is pretty significant. The Publix version gives you the most tissues for the least amount of moolah.

The Kleenex had the most votes at my house (one of which was my vote). I thought it was the softest and thickest tissue  combo. It was also the most expensive…almost double the price of the Publix version. So I guess there were really two winners—one for price and one for softness.

I know for fact that I would have no issue picking up the Publix tissue if there was no sale/coupon and I needed tissue. BUT–I am a creature of habit and I will always pick up paper products when they are on sale—so chances are I will never need them…but you never know!!
