Welcome to this week’s Try Me Tuesday. As a reminder…each week I will grab a new set of products and test them out. I’ll put the Publix brand up against a national brand product and report back.
I know many times I struggle with what brand to choose. Often a sale or a coupon/sale combination make that an easier decision…but what about those times when you need an item and there is not a sale? Do you grab the house brand or pay more and get the national brand? More importantly, is there really a difference in taste?
This week we tried Publix Puff Pastry Sheets.

As you can see, I decided to test out the puff pastry by making a couple of Nutella Christmas Trees–YUM!!
Everyone LOVED those tasty treats and all agreed that they’d happily eat either with no complaints whatsoever! When I forced everyone to vote, we ended up with a tie.
I couldn’t find a big difference in the pastry once cooked but I could tell the difference when I prepped the trees. The Publix dough didn’t have nearly the amount of flour so it was more sticky to work with.
We all decided that we’d be happy eating either variety…so ultimately it comes down to price. AND…as you can see, they are identical. So, my suggestion is to grab them while they are on sale. As I told you a few days ago, the Publix version is on sale right now and there is a digital coupon. Be sure to take advantage of the savings if you want to add a box to your freezer for upcoming gatherings.
And hey, if you do a taste test…let us know which your family preferred!
